Warning over ‘wrong’ medical aid

A joint Lancet and Imperial College London review found poor countries were being given devices they could not use or maintain. It said richer nations should aim their efforts at lower-cost equipment tailored for the developing world.
Trust rules out Army medic idea
24 January 2012 Last updated at 10:50 ET A proposal to bring in Army medics to cover a shortage of doctors has been ruled out by an NHS trust. The A&E unit in Pontefract, run by Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust, has been closed overnight since 1 November.
